Year 6

Our theme is ‘Splish, Splash, Splosh’, so we will be using the Kenneth Grahame’s ‘The Wind in the Willows’ as a stimulus in Literacy writing descriptions of settings, newspaper reports about Mr. Toads escapades, reading and writing playscripts and much more.

Our Science will involve using our outdoor environmental area and pond to study habitats and how the wildlife has adapted to the environment.  In addition to this we will study the water cycle, dissolving and separating.

Our Geography will focus on the study of rivers in the local area and are we are very much looking forward to the school visit to the River Thames and London Eye.  We are excited about to be working with dance coaches from
Stanground College and playing outdoor summer games such as rounders and tennis.

Within ICT will be creating animation linked to ‘The Wind in the Willows’ and producing multi-media presentations about the different world rivers we will study.

In art we will use the river theme to print and study artists who have been inspired by rivers and waterways.
