A note for return to school in September:
Please could any and all school library books be returned. These are all stamped on the inside cover with the school name and have an orange or green label on the spine. There will be a box in the classroom to drop them into each day. Thank you!
Teacher: Miss S Woodcock (Monday to Thursday) and Miss T Christian (Friday)
Teaching Assistant: Mrs J Henderson
PE Days: Wednesday
Spelling Test Day: Friday
Times Tables: We will be using Times Tables Rockstars throughout the week to practice and track our fluency with Times Tables.
Home Learning: Mathletics learning will be set at the start of the half term with all tasks and their due dates. Each week it will be expected that children complete two tasks by the Thursday of each week. There will be a half-termly project which will be linked to the current topic.
If you would like to support your child further at home, in Year 5 we aim for children to know their times tables with increasing fluency. There are some fantastic videos online to support the learning of these.
Additionally the Year 5/6 Statutory word list can be found in the documents at the bottom of this page, these are spellings in which we aim for children to know by the time they finish Year 5.
Autumn Term Topic: Rock, rattle and roll.
Spring Term 2 Topic: Where in the World?
Summer Term Topic: Groovy Greeks!
Other useful information: Suitable PE kit must be worn: a black t-shirt with the Stanground St John's Logo or a white t-shirt, and black shorts/ sports trousers.
Reading at home daily will help develop and improve pace, fluency and understanding. Please listen to your child read at least 3 times a week and then record in their reading record for them to move up the reading ladder.
