Year 2 - Northern Lights (Aurora)

PE Day: Tuesday & Wednesday (please come to school in your PE Kit). Ensure the correct PE uniform is followed, which consists of a black t-shirt and black shorts/joggers/leggings and suitable footwear. A black hoody/sweatshirt is advisable for outdoor sessions.
Spelling Test Day: Spellings will be set weekly and tested on a Friday.
Times Tables: Times Tables Rockstars is tested three times a week. We are currently focusing on 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
Home Learning: Rockstars tasks will be set on a Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday (more details to follow ). There will also be a half-termly project set that is linked to the current topic.
Reading: Our school expectation is that reading books are read a minimum of three times a week. Please ensure that you record in the record book everytime you listen to your child at home. Books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday.
Tapestry: This will continue to be used as a primary means of communication. This needs to be checked on a daily basis to ensure you are up to date with key information. This is also your route for sending any messages directly to the class teacher. Evidence of learning will continue to be posted on a daily basis, along with suggestions of ways you could continue to support your child at home.
Autumn Term Topic: Bright Sparks
This topic will have a focus on the Human Body & Electricity in Science, Using Maps in Geography and The Romans in History.
We will also be learning about Christmas in preparation for the Christmas Nativity in December.
Spring Term Topic: . To Infinity and Beyond
This topic will have a focus on Electricity in Science, The British Isles & Cape Town in Geography and The Tudors in History.
Summer Term Topic: Rumble in the Jungle!
This topic will have a focus on Living things in their Environments and Plants in Science, Northern Europe in Geography and Powerful Voices in History.
