Mr Francis Aboagye
Last week, we were fortunate in having our Ghanaian link teacher in school. During his stay, he was finally able to meet the pupils with whom his school had communicated; I know that these children in particular, were very pleased to meet him and ask him many questions about the school and himself, as well as life in Ghana.
He was amazed at the amount of work that the teachers in our school do, as apart from the longer days (schools finish at 1.30pm in Ghana and at midday on Fridays, due to the Muslim community), we do a lot of planning, marking, assessments and reports!!. When asked whether he would like to teach in England, you can imagine his reply!
During the week, he spent time in each classroom and also went to an after school club. He sampled English food every day, having a school dinner and sitting and chatting to the pupils.
In his leisure time, Miss Christian and Mrs Burton showed him some of the more interesting places in the area, so he was able to visit Lincoln, Hunstanton, Sandringham and Cambridge.
On his return to Ghana, he was able to take back the books that the children kindly donated during Book Week and these have been well received by the pupils in Abrokyire School. Also due to your generous donations, linked to our fund raising activities, we will able to send more money, which should almost complete the KG1/2 classroom. Over £200 was raised last week. Thank you for your donations which will enable the children in Ghana to learn in a more comfortable environment.
